Boko Haram Attack On Nigerian Soldiers In Sambisa Forest, Five Soldiers Wounded
The Boko Haram sect today attacked Nigerian soldiers at the Sambisa Forest leading to about five soldiers sustaining various degrees of injury NAIJA NEWS BEAT can confirm.
Repelling the attack, about five of the soldiers were seriously injured by the sect.
Mr. Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, a Colonel and the military spokesperson in a statement said, “Troops of 21 Brigade and the rugged team of Armed Forces Special Forces (AFSF) on Operation inside Sambisa forest came under Boko Haram terrorist attack at about 1.45am today.
“However, the gallant troops successfully repelled the attack. They further followed up with mopping up operations of the general area before advancing.
The soldiers recovered 2 corpses of the attackers and items ranging from 2 AK-47 rifles, 2 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bombs, 5 rifle magazines, mortar bombs and a belt of Machine Gun rounds.
“Unfortunately, five of our soldiers were wounded in the action, as a result of a mortar fired into the harbour area by the Boko Haram terrorists.
We are happy, the wounded soldiers have been evacuated and taken for treatment, he said.
“Despite this incident, the morale of the gallant troops remains very high as they are determined to successfully clear Boko Haram terrorists.” Mr. Sani said.
