Breaking: FG Applies For Awarrant Of Arrest Against Onnoghen

The Federal Government Nigeria, on Wednesday, ask the Code of Conduct Tribunal ( CCT ) to issue a warrant of arrest against the embattled suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria ( CJN ), Walter Onnoghen.

The prosecution counsel, Aliyu Umar ( SAN ), at the resume hearing told the Tribunal that the defendant is not in court.

Umar said, “Under the circumstances, it is my sad duty to address the tribunal on S6(1) of the Practice Direction of the tribunal.

“I hereby humbly apply for a warrant of arrest against the defendant,” he said.

In response, Onnoghen’s lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) urged the tribunal to refuse the application to issue bench warrant.
