UCL: PSG Hammers Barcelona 4-0
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were in scintillating form on Tuesday night as they beat Barcelona 4:0 in a Champions League last-16 first leg encounter in France.
With this emphatic win, PSG have put themselves in an outstanding position to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League.
The home side took the game to their visitors from the start with Marco Verratti, Adrien Rabiot and Matuidi dictating the pace from the midfield for PSG.
The French champions made their intention known in the 7th minute when Edinson Cavani got a diagonal cross from Angel Di Maria before hitting a shot on goal that was blocked by Sergi Roberto.
Again, the hosts came calling in the 11th minute when Matuidi hit a shot that made Barca stopper pulled out a cracking stop with his right hand.
However, just seven munites after that stop, PSG were ahead as Angel Di Maria curled a beautiful strike into the top right corner from a free kick.
In the 40th minute, Marco Verratti bursted forward unopposed before releasing Julian Draxler who smashed a strike across the keeper into the corner.
The hosts came back after the interval to continue from where they stopped in the first half and Di Maria fired home his second of the night in the 55th minute before Cavani rounded off a remarkable night for the hosts in the 72nd minute with an unstoppable strike.
